The first night run of its kind under the motto “Burgas lights up”, organized by the Burgas Municipality in partnership with Burgas Run, is now a fact. The race took place along a route including two of the main transport arteries with modernized street lighting. Over 250 runners of all age groups participated in the event. The main idea of the sports event was to highlight the benefits of implementing the project, including improving air quality and life for citizens and visitors to the city, increasing energy efficiency, reducing carbon dioxide emissions and energy consumption, presented through the perspective of sports and alternative forms of movement generating zero carbon emissions.
The sports initiative is implemented under the project “Modernisation of the system of street lighting in 22 zones, including main road thoroughfares within the city of Burgas”, № BGENERGY-2.001-0072-C02, financed by the European Economic Area Grants (EEA Grants ) 2014-2021
